Atlanta Stores - Whole Nine Yarns

On Tuesday evening we stopped by The Whole Nine Yarns  located in Woodstock, GA for their knit night.  They are open every day except Sunday and stay open until 9 pm on Tuesdays. It was fun to sit and knit, and talk about yarn....

Knitting Green - Eco Vest

Eco Vest Designed by Katie Himmelberg From the new Ann Bud book - " Knitting Green: Conversations and Planet Friendly Projects " Knit in Ecowool - 100% undyed Peruvian Highland Wool - 478 yds/250 g - shown in color 8015 (Oatmeal) This unstructured vest is knit in a single peice to the armholes and then the front and back are worked separately to the shoulders.  Cable stitches make for easy shaping.  This great multi-seasonal garment is knit with 2-3 skeins of Ecowool on a US 10 1/2 needle.

Atlanta Stores - Sheepish

We stopped and saw Sheepish   located in Decatur, GA.  They are open 7 days a week and Carrie, Stacy, and Brooke are great resources. Bibi was a wonderful hostess.

Lovin' Knit Yarn Shop & Studio Last Tuesday we stopped in Marietta in the Paper Mill Shopping Centeer to meet with Pat.  The store is open Monday through Saturday and there is a knit night every Thursday from 6-8 pm. Cascade 220  (100% Peruvian Highland Wool - 220 yds/100 g) Fixation - a great stretch cotton blended with just a bit of elastic - great for baby hats and booties, socks, tank tops, swim suits, chem caps...... Atlanta Stores - 2nd Stop - Ewe Knits

Ewe Knit in Carrollton, Ga was our second stop.  Open Mon-Fri 10:00 am to 6:00 pm and Saturday 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, they focus on both knitting and crochet.  Their Knit and Crochet Night is on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of every month from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. 

Atlanta Stores - 1st Stop Sugarfoot Yarns

On Monday we stopped by Sugarfoot Yarns in Peachtree City, GA - Cheryl was nice enough to see us on her day off.  The store opened up last year and  is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. til 6 p.m.  On Thursdays the store is open late for a knit night, at least until 8 p.m.  "Yarns and Yarns," where a local author or storyteller will share a story as we knit and nosh around the table begins at 12:15 on the first and third Fridays of each month.   Magnum (100% Peruvian Highland Wool) Cascade 220 wall

Projects Seen at Stitches South

It was great seeing everyone that stopped by at the Cascade Yarns booth at Stitches South.  Some even brought their project that was knit with one of the Cascade yarns. Nancy Rieck wore her design - Summer Wild Oats - knit in Cascade Arcadia. Marcia Howell (suthnheart on Ravelry) knit Dreaming of the Sea (based on The Sheep Tote (AC-64) by Bev Galeskas) knit in Cascade 220 and 220 Quatro Karola (EyeKnit4U58 on Ravelry) who was working at the Big Sock booth knit Tuscany from Amy Smith's 'No Sheep for You' in Alpaca Lace Diana (Pugsley on Ravelry) knit a Felted bag out of Cascade 220 and Autunno based on the Lucy bag. Jennifer Hagan modeled her design Ailsa ( Figheadh Yarnworks ) knit by Kelli Story in Cottonrich DK Margaret Ann McCormick knit in Sierra Quatro Molly Evans brought her WIP knit in Eco+ - the Helleborus Yoke (Matthew Gnagy from Knitscene Winter/Spring 2010) Shirley Bennet knit Galadriel by Nautical Knitter (Shirley Filmer)  in Alpaca Lace

New Melissa Leapman Book - Color Knitting the Easy Way

Melissa Leapman's new book, "Color Knitting the Easy Way -Essential Techniques, Perfect Palettes, and Fresh Designs Using Just One Color at a Time", officially goes on sale on April 27, 2010.  It is actually on sale at Stitches South at Yarn Barn of Kansas'  booth.  A majority of the swatches in the  book are knit in Cascade 220 and 3 of the projects are in Cascade Yarns - Greenland, Luna, and Pastaza.   There are at least 2 addtional color options for each project.
