A quick, simple fingerless glove/wrist warmer pattern with waving cables. A good project for a first-time cabler or someone wanting to learn how to cable without a cable needle.

Knit in Lana d'Oro (50% Alpaca/50% Wool - 219 yds/100 g)

"This sweater is worked from the top down in the round. No seams!" celebrates Beckerich. "It features an all over cable pattern, and also has a cable on the raglan line." The short-sleeved sweater (so perfect for layering) is in tremendous demand recently, and this beauty is a very classy take on it. The designer writes a neat and thorough pattern, with beautiful clear charts (both the raglan-seam cable and the body cable are charted separately). Terribly elegant sportswear.

Knit in Lana D’Oro (50% superfine alpaca, 50% wool) 100 g/219 yds per hank: 2 hank each #1064 Denim Heather and #1086 Gray Heather

With cold weather bearing down on many of us, warm mittens and hats become very appealing projects and gifts.  Lana d'Oro is a wonderful yarn that combines the softness from alpaca with the behavior of wool.
Fair Isle motifs go vertical in this winter set. The hat is shaped at the top by means of equally spaced decreases.  The hemmed brim adds extra warmth at the lower edge. Mittens are worked as a traditional Northern manner, with thumb gussets and a shaped top. Small checks decorate the palm; the hemmed cuff repeats the hat’s silhouette.

This vest is fun and versatile.  It can be worn with a longer collar and shorter vest or with a shorter collar and longer vest.  Because the reverse stockinette is on the right side, the collar shows stockinette both ways that it can be worn.

This beautiful hat is available in 2 versions - Slouch and Beanie.  Knit in the round, there is a 2 x 2 cabled rib that gives a snug, yet comfortable fit.  The primary pattern pattern resembles a  cabled flower and easily transitions into simpler cables that taper at the crown.

"Straight from an enchanted forest, this lavishly patterned hood will keep out winter’s chill while it frames and flatters the face," says Gregory. "The one-size fit is kind to your hairstyle and makes it an ideal gift. The hood is knit flat and seamed, with mosaic patterns that never require stranding or carrying of yarn." This is really marvellous, a unique piece that suits everyone and is an admirable teaching ground. Every beautiful detail is explained in full, from how to achieve the bi-coloured face-framing brim to the delicacy of the buttonloops.

Highlights from the Cascade Sheep's Visit East - Part 2 - Greetings from Mochimochi

Greetings from Mochimochi

Last Wednesday, the Cascade Sheep and I went to gallery hanahou (611 Broadway - Ste 730; New York, NY) to see the Greetings from Mochimochiexhibit before it closed.  We were both very excited to meet Anna Hrachovec - the creator of Mochimochi Land.
All of the yarn for the show was donated by Cascade Yarns.  Cascade 128, Cascade 220, and Heritage were used for this installation.  It was great fun to see all of the imagination and creativity that went into all of the characters.  Everything was knitted by hand and was full of intricate details.
