I decided it would be fun to do a hat that revolved around the number 12. Both charts are 12 stitches across and the feather chart is also 12 rows tall. There are 12 repeats of the 2 charts. The hat can be a slouchy or a stocking cap if you fold up the ribbing.
Materials:
- 220 Superwash Sport -100% Superwash Merino Wool - 137 yds/50 g - 2 skeins color A (813) and 1 skein color B (802)
- 16" Circular Needles - US 4 & US 6
- DPNs - US 6
- Stitch Marker
- Yarn Needle
Abbreviations:
- K - Knit
- P - Purl
- K2tog - Knit 2 Together
- Kfb - Knit into the front & back of a stitch
Finished dimensions - brim = 17" circumference unstretched
Length = 10" from cast on edge
Stitch Gauge - 6 stitches = 1" in stockinette
Change to color A
Continue in 2x2 rib until 3" from cast on edge
Change to US 6 circular needle
Increase row - [add 24 stitches evenly]
K4, Kfb
K for 2.5"
Change to Color B - K 1 round
Blue = Color A
Green = Color B
Then:
1 - K10, K2tog-12 times
2 - K9, K2tog
3 - K8, K2tog
4 - K7, K2tog
5 - K6, K2tog
6 - K5, K2tog
7 - K4, K2tog
8 - K3, K2tog
9 - K2, K2tog
10 - K1, K2tog
11 - K2tog
12 - K2tog
