The response to the Streak of Lightning Log Cabin Throw was amazing! It also made choosing a winner very difficult. The winner is Beth R. Here was her comment:
I did a serious of pillows for my niece's new room. I have also
done some hats that I donated to a charity. I have 2 different scarves on my
needles right now in the paints.
Cascade was the first "real" yarn (read-"non-craft-store") I used, and I return to it all the time. It is my first-love yarn!

However, given the number of wonderful entries, we have a few extra prizes to give out.
1. A skein of Longwood and a cowl pattern for j-9 knits:
Cascade 220 is my favorite "go to" yarn. I knit an
aran sweater, my design, for my younger brother while he was overseas. He loves
the sweater and looks very handsome, safe here at home. j9knits
2. A skein of Pacific and a hat pattern for Teri:
I use Cascade 220 for the Mother Bears I make and donate. Each
bear is unique and is loved by the children who receive them. I love 220 for
the variety of colors and yarn durability.
3. A skein of Venezia Sport and a a Head Scarf pattern for silfert:
My favorite Cascade project was a sweater made in 220. I
designed it with Feather and Fan for the hem and sleeve cuffs, with three
mini-cables up the front and back. Across the chest, I used purl stitches to
create a message in Braille that read, "No, you may not read my
sweater!" :)
4. A skein of Sateen and a shrug pattern for Stephanie Faulkner:
I made my adopted daughter an adorable shrug. She calls it
"my first ever mommy sweater". I love how your beautiful yarns can be
made into great memories for my family. I plan to make her many more
"mommy sweaters" during our lifetime together.
Love your yarns!

5. A skein of Heritage Silk and a shawl pattern for Sharon:
I got a call at work from my mother. She said "Go to the
Cascade Yarn website." Then she said, I want "That shawl in That
color". Living out in bush Alaska, I had to order the #9595 Cascade 220
fingering yarn from our yarn shop in Anchorage. When they got the yarn, they
shipped it right out to me and my mother got "That shawl" in
"That color" for Mothers Day. It was the absolutely beautiful
Rocketship Shawl.
6. A skein of Kid Seta and a shawl pattern for aprilm
The throw is gorgeous - I knitted a big Irish flag as a joke
present for some rugby friends using Cascade 220 - the orange is perfect!
It had its world première at Twickenham a couple of years ago at a Six nations match but during the celebrations that followed, the idiots left it in a pub. I have always wondered what happened to it. Bit like a Mayfly - it only lived for a day but what a day!It even appeared on TV during the match, talk about .15 seconds of fame.....
I would take much better care of this lovely throw.

Congratulations to all the winners!!!! I think I will go by myself some Cascade yarn for another project on my list ;)
ReplyDeleteI recently discovered this blog. Thank you for posting free patterns: they encouraged me to purchase some Cascade yarn and to knit some new items. I hope you will continue to post complete patterns. Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteI will be posting another free pattern very soon - I try to do at least 1 per month
