A Year of Giving - March - Anchor Bay - Pannonica Slouch

For March, I made a lacy slouch in Anchor Bay, one of my favorite yarns. It is an ultra-soft and versatile blend of Superwash Merino and Cotton that is fabulous for a variety of projects - from babies to adults in both knit and crochet. We will be giving away 3 kits of 2 skeins each (enough to make at least 2 hats per kit) - 2 through the Cascade Yarns Facebook page and 1 through the blog. To enter on the blog, comment with your favorite spring knitting project. The winners will be drawn at 3 pm PST on Thursday, March 21, 2019.
Materials
  • 1 skein Anchor Bay (50% Cotton/50% Merino Wool - 262 yds/100 g) - shown in #22 (Chrysanthemum)
  • US 4 - 16" circular needles
  • US 6 - 16" circular needles and DPNs
  • Stitch Marker
Abbreviations
  • K - Knit
  • P - Purl
  • YO - Yarn Over
  • K2tog - Knit 2 Together
  • SSK - Slip, Slip, Knit 2 Slipped stitches together

Gauge
7.5 sts = 1" in K3, P3 - US 4

Finished Measurements 
15, 16" unstretched at brim
Approximately 8.75", 9.75" long

With US 4 - Cast on (108), 120 sts
Join in the round - place marker to show beginning of round
K3, P3 for (1.5"), 2"

Change to US 6

Start Pattern:
Row 1- K3, K2tog, YO, K1
Row 2 - K2, K2tog, YO, K2
Row 3 - K1, K2tog, YO, K3
Row 4 - K2tog, YO, K4
Row 5 - K1, YO, SSK, K3
Row 6 - K2, YO, SSK, K2,
Row 7 - K3, YO, SSK, K1
Row 8 - K4, YO, SSK

Repeat 8 rounds until (8.5"), 9.5" from cast on edge


Start Decreases:
Row 1- K3, K2tog, YO, K4, K2tog, K1 (99, 110 sts)
Row 2 - K2, K2tog, YO, K4, K2tog, K1 (90, 100 sts)
Row 3 - K1, K2tog, YO, K4, K2tog, K1 (81, 90 sts)
Row 4 - K2tog, YO, K4, K2tog, K1 (72, 80 sts)
Row 5 - K1, YO, SSK, K3, K2tog (63, 70 sts)
Row 6 - K2, YO, SSK, K1, K2tog (54, 60 sts)
Row 7- K4, K2tog (45, 50 sts)
Row 8 - K3, K2tog (36, 40 sts)
Row 9 - K2, K2tog (27, 30 sts)
Row 10 - K1, K2tog (18, 20 sts)
Row 11 - K2tog (9, 10 sts)

Cut yarn. Thread tail through remaining stitches. Weave in ends.

Cables & Intarsia (my original knitting pattern, including the Celtic Cables) with 128 Superwash Cascade Yarns. Heavenly soft wool, which can be washed in a washing machine.Pattern to be shared soon.   25. I like to knit hats year round, because they are portable, small enough that I don't get bored with a pattern, useful, giftable, and usually only need one skein, unless I am doing colorwork :)

  27. Love this hat. I ordered Anchor Bay to make it and the yarn is fabulous. Question - on Row 4 of "start design" - should it be K2Tog, YO, K4 rather than K5?
