The new Heritage Paints colors designed by Stevanie Pico are finally in the warehouse!  Her unique sense of color created 5 beautiful new colorways for our Heritage Paints .  In conjunction with Abundant Yarns and Dyeworks, we had a naming contest for the new colors at the Sock Summit.  There were a ton of entries to decide between.  Some of the colorways had more than 100 entries for them, so it was a very difficult choice. Patternfish  has a great site full of downloadable patterns for purchase, including more than 100 patterns that use Cascade Yarns. Elizabeth Smith's Touch of Grey Cardigan A great layering piece, this buttonless belted short-sleeved cardigan is knit in one piece with limited seaming. It is knit on circular needles, working back and forth from the bottom to the underarms. At that point the sleeve stitches are cast on and the back and front pieces are divided and each worked separately. Short rows are used to shape the shoulders. Front and back shoulder stitches are attached by binding off the stitches together using the three-needle bind off technique. Finally, stitches are picked up and knitted to create the neck band ribbing, sleeve ribbing and front bands. The only seaming you’ll have to do is at the underarm on each side—that’s it! 60 Quick Knits - 20 Hats, 20 Scarves, 20 Mittens in Cascade 220 is now available to preview on Issuu.com . The monkey hat was designed by Irina Poludnenko. It‘s a jungle out there! Keep your little one‘s head and ears warm with this adorable topper featuring earflaps that secure under the chin with I-cord ties.  At TNNA we were very happy to see the models from the book and there will be regular previews between now and April when it hits the stores.  Rumor has it that previews of the book might be available by the the  Yarn Market News Conference  - which is happening here in Seattle, WA on March 14-16, 2010.

TNNA will be this weekend.  We will be up front in booths 1209-15 and 1306-14.  Joan from White Lies Designs will be in our booth this time.  She has some great new designs using our yarns.  Also, we will have some new spring designs from Melissa Leapman making their debute.  There will be a number of new garments knit from our new Ultra Pima  - a DK/Sport gauge cotton that is amazingly soft while being very easy care. Also, for another fun free pattern - a bag, shawl, and beret knit out of Baby Alpaca Chunky :  The Baby Alpaca Chunky Purse, Hat, and Wrap  was designed by Susie Bonell, a Seattle native, and is lusciously soft and a quick knit.  Baby Alpaca Chunky comes in a wide range of colors (including hand paints, marles, and heathers) and at 3 1/2 stitches per inch, knits up quite quickly.
