Patternfish - Dishcloth Dress - Designed by Mary Lou Egan

Dishcloth Dress
Designed by Mary Lou Egan - M.L. Egan Designs

Knit in Cottonrich DK - 64% Cotton/36% Nylon - 135.6 yds - 2-3 skeins color A and 4-5 skeins of color B - sizes 2-6 (S-M)

"The drawstring at the underarm and the adjustable straps make the sizing on this very flexible," says Egan. "Skirt is knit in the round and bodice and straps are worked flat in garter stitch." This is a very fun piece to make, and gives you practice in lots of technique-- slip stitch patterning on the skirt, the eyelet drawstring round (and accompanying I-cord drawstring itself), and the relaxing garter front and back at the end. You'll find it goes surprisingly quickly because you're so engaged with it all."

Free Pattern - Triple Triangle Cape - Designed by Betty Balcomb

Triple Triangle Cape
Designed by Betty Balcomb

Knit in Heritage Paints (75% Superwash Merino Wool/25% Nylon - Handpainted - 437 yds/100 g) - 2 skeins (shown in color 9882)

According to Betty, "I love triangle shawls, the ones made with 2 triangles separated by a narrow center panel of a couple of stitches. I have made many of them through the years from very simple to quite complicated. But I sometimes find them a little awkward to wear. The answer is to add a third triangle. The extra triangle changes the garment from a shawl to a cape which fits great.  The middle triangle drapes across the back with a flat edge lying along the waist. The side triangles pull around to the front, meeting nicely in the middle where they can be joined with a shawl pin or brooch. If you are thinking that it means knitting 50% more fabric, it doesn’t. The shape allows for a much shorter piece. The amount of yarn used and number of stitches worked remains about the same. This cape employs the classic leaf pattern but with a vertical double decrease rather than the usual SK2togPSSO so the leaves have a nice spine like real leaves. Then the cape is finished with a spiky border forming a second leaf motif."

Felted Nesting Bowls (Crochet)

Knit in Cascade 220 (100% Peruvian Highland Wool - 220 yds/100 g) - shown in 8910, 7803, 8891, 9444

These Felted Nesting Bowls are easy to make and work up super fast. They are a great way to use up scraps of wool, and make an excellent gift.  Just so you know kids love these bowls too! Any kids that get their hands on these want their very own set as they enjoy stacking and restacking them.

"I used Cascade 100% wool to make these bowls because I couldn't resist the bright colours, but any 100% felting wool can be used. If you are mixing and matching keep in mind that different brands of wool may felt differently."

Bowls measure approximately 15 1/2 cm (6") in circumference, 5 cm (2") deep for smallest bowl, and 25 1/2 cm (10") in circumference, 7cm (3") deep for largest bowl.
